Nb: Based on Wado Ryu
The inner block can be performed from any stance….the idea is to use your forearm to strongly block and deflect an incoming attack with a sweeping across motion. The effectiveness of the block comes from the speed and twist of the defence.
How To:
1. In any stance here we show stepping from ready to long stance.
2. The blocking arm is raised at a 90 degree angle and in line with your chest, the height of the block depends on incoming attack but we practise it at head height, inner arms pointing towards the front or direction of attack.
3. The arm is swept across the body in position, twisting the inwards so the forearm twist helps deflect the attack.
4. The wrist and hand should be clenched and in line with the forearm and end up fully across your body.
