Learn How to Karate Block

Learn karate blocks at home, because karate blocks form part of defence and should be constantly practised until the actions become natural based on the incoming attack. Four key blocks to start with are head block (jodanuke), outer block (sotouke), inner block (uchiuke) and lower block (gedanbarai). These names may differ between styles so follow and learn from your preferred instructor or cross train but remember to try and follow a structured karate plan or framework to keep track of your training and aim for specific goals.

The karate blocks should be practised by combining different blocking and striking combinations while in different stances.
Part of your learning karate will help make you comfortable at performing multiple blocks and counter moves from any karate stance.
