The lower block can be performed from any stance. The idea is to use your outer forearm to deflect block an incoming attack with a sweeping across motion that deflects the attack away from the lower (gedan) body, groin or legs. The effectiveness of the block comes from the speed and twist of the defence.
How To:
1. In any stance here we show stepping from ready to long stance.
2. The blocking arm is raised to the opposite shoulder.
3. The arm is swept downwards across the body towards the blocking arm side, twisting the arm into the block.
5. The wrist and hand should be clenched and in line with the forearm and end up to the outside of the body.
