Karate punches and strikes can be very powerful when correctly applied. Karate means “empty hand” and techniques have evolved using different parts of the hand (arm) to effectively counter attack an opponent depending on the stance and target area that is available to hit. Karate blocks used with force can also be effective strikes. We suggest starting with straight and reverse punch, followed by backfist and hammer fist. Then move onto elbow and ridge hand strikes.
You should practise enough to get to a stage that any particular counter attack, punch or strike comes naturally.
This only comes with repetitive practise with and without a partner and or punch bags.
NB:As with all karate practise warm up and stretch first and observe respect and safety. Only use these moves in self defence or as part of safe karate practise.
